Note on Evaluation Infrastructure: Initial trials of virtual desktops are sometimes run using spare capacity on existing virtualization servers, often with test plans designed to find the absolute limits of the technology. Although this approach may make sense for initial technical trials in the lab, we strongly recommend using back-end infrastructure, DVM configurations, and actual user workflows equivalent to those planned for your full-scale virtual desktop deployments. This will help you reach the most accurate assessment of how the Pano System will benefit your organization and your users.
Note on Optional Components: It is possible to install the starter kit without some optional network and virtualization infrastructure components. Specifically, the directory service and provisioning tools (like vCenter Server on the VMware platform) may be omitted. However, this approach introduces a number of configuration and provisioning limitations which may prevent you from accurately testing the environment of your planned VDI deployment. Please note that Microsoft SCVMM is a required, not an optional component when deploying on the Hyper-V platform.
