Step 2 - Inventory Components

You may receive components for your Pano Express for SMB or for Education (both referred to as Pano Express below) in two or more shipments or boxes. Because of this we strongly suggest taking an inventory to check the contents of the shipments and ensure that you have all of the components needed to successfully deploy your Pano Express. 

Note: The inventory list below is for informational purposes only - these specifications are subject to change without notice.

Hardware Included in Pano Express for SMB/Education

You should have two kinds of hardware components:

• 30 individually boxed new generation (G2) Pano Zero Clients with North America power supplies.
• A rack-mountable HP G7 DL360 server with internal hard drives.

The included HP server hardware has the following configuration:

• A rack-mountable 1U server chassis with eight internal 2.5” drive slots and redundant power supplies
• Dual Intel E5620 2.4 GHz CPUs (each a quad-core with hyperthreading and 12MB of L3 cache)
• 72 GB of UDIMM ECC RAM
• An internal flash memory drive with the VMware vSphere ESXi software pre-installed on it
• Eight 300GB 10K rpm 2.5” SAS hard drives configured in a RAID5 volume prepopulated with the preconfigured virtual machines (see below)

Software Licenses Included in Pano Express for SMB/Education

The following software and operating system licenses are included in the Pano Express:

• 30 seats of Pano System 5.0 licenses for the use of Pano Direct Service and Pano Controller
• VMware vSphere 5 Essentials license covering the vSphere ESX and ESXi hypervisors and vCenter Server and licensed for up to 3 hosts (servers), each with up to 2 hex-core CPUs and 256 GB RAM.
• Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard edition license. This license is provided with the Pano Express for the VM holding VMware vCenter. Although Windows Server is preinstalled on the host as a VM named Pano-vCenter you are still required to complete the licensing as notated in the END USER CONSENT AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. You can find instructions on this process in the setup and configure Server (Step 3) section of the checklist.

Required, But Not Provided
You will also need to separately provide the following licenses and software:

• 30 Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop Access (VDA, formerly called VECD) licenses for virtual desktops running either Windows XP or Windows 7.  These are device-based subscription licenses tied to the Pano Zero Clients and need to be renewed each year.  Please contact your Microsoft representative, visit the Microsoft Virtualization web page or download the Microsoft VDA licensing brochure for pricing, renewals, license terms and additional information.
• ISO images of the installation media for Windows XP/7 and any applications you need.

Preloaded Virtual Machines (VMs)

The Pano Express for SMB/Education server comes preloaded with VMware ESXi on an internal bootable USB key in order to reserve the internal hard drives for your the desktop virtual machines (DVMs). 

The RAID volume on the Pano Express server is shipped with the following system virtual machines already installed:

1. vCenter VM: a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM with 1GB of vRAM and 50GB virtual disk loaded with vCenter Server.  The vCenter VM is named Pano-vCenter
2. Pano Controller appliance VM with 1GB of vRAM and  a total of 14GB of virtual disk.  The Pano Controller Appliance is named Pano-Controller.
