Step 4 - Deploy Panos

I. Deploy the Pano Zero Clients on Your Network

You are now ready to deploy the Pano Zero Clients on your network:

  1. Deploy Pano Zero Clients to the user locations indicated in your User Survey.  There is no configuration or setup required for any of the Pano Zero Clients and Pano Controller will automatically discover them on the network provided you have configured your DHCP Server as described in [HelpTopic:Set Up Pano Client Discovery-VMware].  Not all of the Pano Zero Clients need to be deployed initially but it is recommended that you deploy at least 10 of them for the initial setup.
  2. Each Pano Zero Client will need to be connected to a compatible monitor with a recommended resolution of at least 1024x768 - for information on compatible monitor resolutions please see [HelpTopic:Supported Monitor Resolutions for Pano G2].
  3. Each Pano Zero Client will also need to be connected to a USB keyboard and mouse - for information on compatible USB devices please see [HelpTopic:Supported USB Devices].
  4. Connect each Pano Zero Client's power adapter to a power outlet - there is no power switch - the Pano will start powering up as soon as it is plugged in.

II. Test Connectivity to Server

You can now test the connectivity from each Pano Zero Client to the Pano Express and other resources on your production LAN.

As soon as a Pano Zero Client is powered on and connected to a network, it will attempt to locate the network services, servers and VMs it needs to operate. The Pano Button, located on the front corner of the Pano Zero Client, is used both as a button to restart the connection to the Pano Controller VDB connection broker and as an indicator light to show the progress of establishing a network connection and connecting to Pano Controller.

The Pano Button colors will move from flashing Red, as connectivity is just established, to flashing Yellow, after a network IP address is obtained from your DHCP server, to a steady Blue color after the Pano Zero Client connects to Pano Controller.  These simple colors are all you need to check to determine if you have a good network connection.  For more information please see [Helptopic:Troubleshooting Networking Problems].

Once a connection to Pano Controller is established, along with a steady blue glow on the Pano Button the Pano login screen will appear and you can move on to the next step.

III. Start Using Your Panos

You are now ready to start using your Pano virtual desktops.  You should be able to connect to your DVM from an appropriate Pano Zero Client.

You can now move on to the next step and start installing applications and other software in your DVMs, cloning additional DVMs from template DVMs, and even connecting Pano Controller to your Active Directory server (see Step 7) to use its advanced user-based features.
