Pano Logic introduces 30-day thin client rebate program along with special promotional trade-in at VMworld
MENLO PARK, Calif. – August 24, 2009 – Pano Logic®, the leader in virtual desktops, today announced the launch of a trade-in VDI stimulus program for the next 30 days that lets new and current Pano Logic customers get a rebate towards the purchase of a zero client Pano System™ by turning in an eligible thin client. The thin clients will be destroyed and properly recycled by Pano Logic in accordance with applicable e-waste regulations also saving companies the disposal fees.
And as a special VMworld promotion, Pano Logic is also offering a free Pano System to the first 100 customers who trade-in an eligible thin client to Pano Logic’s booth #2315 at the VMworld 2009 event on September 1st or 2nd. The free Pano Systems include not only the Pano Device zero client hardware but also all of the installation and management tools needed to get up and running on top of the customer’s existing VMware virtual infrastructure in as little as an hour.
“Our VDI ‘cash for clunkers’ rebate program will offer IT managers an easy way to get started with the Pano System at little or no cost to their organization,” said Bryan Cox, executive vice president of worldwide field operations for Pano Logic. “We understand that it can be especially hard in this economic environment to find the budget needed to look at new technology despite the upside these strategic initiatives can bring. Our goal for these rebate and trade-in programs is to help IT organizations realize the productivity, security and energy-saving benefits of Pano System virtual desktops while recovering some of the investments they’ve made in prior thin client trials.”

About the Pano System
The Pano System includes zero-client endpoint devices and the virtual machine and management software components required to leverage your existing virtual infrastructure to support centralized virtual desktops. The key components of the solution are the:
- Pano Device – Winner of the prestigious red dot award for design, the Pano device is a true zero-client with nothing to manage or maintain at the user endpoint. The Pano device connects keyboard, mouse, display, audio and USB peripherals over an existing IP network to a virtual instance of Windows XP running on a VMware ESX or ESXi server. The Pano device provides significant power savings, consuming only 3% of the energy used by traditional desktop computers.
- Pano Manager – A web-based management interface, deployed as a virtual machine in the data center on your VMware Infrastructure which enables administrators to automate virtual desktop deployment and management by integrating with existing directory services and VMware vCenter Server.
- Pano Desktop Service – A lightweight service residing within each Windows desktop virtual machine that links display, audio, and USB peripherals attached to the Pano device to the unmodified native Windows drivers in the virtual machine.
- Pano Remote – An optional remote access tool for Pano virtual desktops delivered on a USB key, Pano Remote allows users to securely access their Pano desktops from any Windows XP or Vista computer. It uses standard Internet protocols to communicate to the bundled Pano Gateway portal, providing encrypted communications without the need for complex and costly VPN software or hardware.
